Missed out on a free class during Virginia Yoga Week? Check out the Be Well Virginia Yoga Passport, available in early September.  The Passport will allow students to take a free class at each of our participating studios through the end of the year. Participating studios will include East Meets West Yoga Center, Little River Yoga, Health Advantage Yoga Center and River’s Edge Yoga Center.  Details coming soon.

Empowered Sequencing for Yoga Teachers – August 21 8:00 AM – This course is designed for Yoga teachers seeking to deliver inspired, intelligently organized classes. You’ll learn new approaches to uncover possibility in class for students at any level, bust through sequencing blocks, and master techniques to spend less time sequencing and more time truly teaching. This workshop is best for yoga teachers who have a Yoga Alliance approved 200hr certification and some experience teaching public classes.

Sweat . Pray . Eat  – September 24 2:00 PM  – An opportunity to reconnect with the intentions of the year and to let go of the things that are no longer serving you well. It’s a chance to get grounded for a few hours, meditate with mala beads, chant, journal, and enjoy some delicious food with fellow yogis. Sweat . Pray . Little River Yoga

Tour of Intermediate with Michael Joel Hall – Sunday, 8/28 1:30pm-3:30pm – If you have a bit of background in Ashtanga Yoga’s primary series and are even a little curious about the second series, then please join us for this fun and accessible look at Ashtanga’s intermediate series. Join Michael as he guides practitioners through a guided practice filled with exotic birds, barnyard animals, and intriguing shapes. Pointing out parallels, corollaries, and commonalities (as well as pitfalls, surprises, and scenic views!), your tour guide will make sure your tour of intermediate is fun, approachable, and appropriate for all!   Investment: $35

Thai Yoga Massage Workshop with Claudia and Munir -Saturday, 9/17 1:00pm-3:30pm – During this workshop, you will work with a partner taking turns to massage each other and apply all the exercises learned during our 2 hours together.  No massage experience needed.  Bring a partner or we will happily find you one in class.  About Thai Yoga Massage: Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient full body treatment that works on the energy pathways throughout the entire body with massage work, acupressure points, and gentle Yoga stretches; to relieve muscular tension, improve circulation, boosts the energy system, and bring the body back to alignment and its natural state of balance. Claudia and Munir are Thai Yoga Massage therapists in the VA/DC area. They love the awareness that we can develop by working with the body, to go beyond the body into mind and spirit. They learned the practice of Thai Yoga Massage in Thailand, where they travel every year to expand and continue their studies. They found the ancient practice of Thai Yoga Massage as a complement to Claudia’s Yoga teachings and Munir’s Energy Medicine & Healing studies.  Investment: $35 per person
 

River’s Edge Yoga

Karma Class to benefit Yoga Gives Back and the Carpenter’s Shelter – Join River’s Edge Yoga, Labor Day Monday at 6:30 PM.  Flow from the heart and the hips.  Pay what you can. Breast/Ovarian Cancer Awareness – Open House September 24th   1-7pm: Join Flow the weekend of September 24th for a healing and transformative event to bring together those who have been affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Many of us know of someone in our lives that has experienced cancer, as a patient, a family member, a supporter or survivor. Many of us have lost loved ones and friends to this devastating disease and we want to bring awareness to the community about being an advocate for your own health through being informed, proactive and healthy. Learn from local teachers, healers, and health professionals about the abundant community and how yoga can be an integral part of the process to healing the mind and the body. http://www.virginiayogaweek.org/

Stone Tower Winery Outdoor Practice – September 25th, 10am-1pm: Join us for an outdoor yoga practice to close out the VA Yoga Summer Wellness campaign to raise funds for our breast/ovarian cancer charity. The outdoor practice, graciously hosted by Stone Tower, is a memorial celebration for those we have lost, those who have suffered and those who have survived.
